The skinny: After racking up at least 40 points in its first three games, Bald Eagle Area was held to just 10 points last week as the Eagles suffered their first loss of the season at Chestnut Ridge.

This week, the fast-paced attack that put up 49, 40 and 47 points to start the season will face a Central squad that lit up the scoreboard, but also gave up its share, in a 69-41 shootout with Penns Valley last Friday.

The Rams’ previous high was 21 points against Juniata to start the season, their only win.

However, it’s the BEA defense that might play a bigger role this week against a Central offense averaging more than 36 points per game.

Austin Cunningham and Bradi Moore are the heavy lifters for Dragon offense.

Cunningham, a senior quarterback, has thrown for three touchdowns and rushed for three more, adding 386 yards in the air and 388 more on the ground.

Moore, a senior running back, leads the team with six rushing touchdowns and three receiving scores.

After 520 yards of offense last week, Central (3-1) should certainly have BEA’s attention.

However, the Dragons must also be aware of BEA’s dangerous attack.

The Eagles were hurt last week when offensive linemen Jarrett Sheffler and Levi Cramer left the game early with injuries.

BEA managed just 58 yards rushing in the game, which made it difficult to establish a passing attack.

If the Eagles can get senior back Dakota Bartley going early, speedsters Bryce and Bryan Greene should be effective on the outside.

After starting the season with three wins against Bellefonte, Philipsburg-Osceola and Penns Valley — three teams with two wins among them — the Eagles will be challenged for the second consecutive week.
