Basketball: Centre County Christian Academy’s return to court spoiled

Walnut Street Christian spoiled Centre County Christian Academy’s return to varsity boys’ basketball play as the Bulldogs fell 62-34 in their season opener on Thursday.

CCCA was still within striking distance, trailing 31-19 at the half.

Walnut Street Christian dominated the final two quarters, outscoring the Bulldogs 34-15.

Taylor Potter led the winners with 25 points. Kristien Quintanilla and Zach Vanderlinde added 17 and 15 points, respectively.

Dakota Parson netted 14 points and grabbed five rebounds for the CCCA, which has not fielded a team in recent seasons. Kevin Zuercher added 10 points and five assists.

“It’s like starting the program over,” said former coach and Bulldog player Sean Kader. “We’re definitely going to grow from this.”

The Bulldogs play at Blair County Christian on Tuesday.
