High school boys’ basketball: Penns Valley opens season with win

Luke Weaver scored a game-high 15 points to help Penns Valley open up its season with a 46-35 victory over Williamsburg on Saturday in the Central Tip-Off Tournament.

With the win, the Rams will play the winner of Central and Windber in the championship on Dec. 14.

“I thought it was a solid first game,” Penns Valley coach Terry Glunt said. “We identified areas that we need to work on. It was nice to have everyone contribute in a team win.”

Will Jackson added nine points for the Rams.

Caleb Morrissey led the Blue Pirates with 12 points.
