With the team’s four seniors in the starting lineup, State College sent them off in style by blasting off to a 30-4 lead in the first eight minutes in a 59-15 victory over Carlisle on Friday.
Seniors Carrie Mahon, Margee Lenze, Bridget King and Aubrey Swanson helped the Lady Little Lions (8-6) build the fast lead that expanded to 50-8 by halftime before a running clock and relaxed play sped the game to the finish line.
The quarter of seniors combined for 30 points, with 14 for Mahon, six each for Lenze and King and four for Swanson. Kyla Irwin netted 12 points, and Jalyn Shelton-Burleigh added 11 points as the team ended a run of six losses in the last seven games.
“It was one of those games we kind of knew we were going to get it,” coach Bethany Irwin said. “We had been on a losing streak, but last night (against Altoona) we turned the corner. Tonight it was all about the seniors and having fun together.”
