Bellefonte closed the gap a bit but still couldn’t hang with Tyrone and fell 58-37 on Wednesday.
The Red Raiders (2-11), who lost by a 34-point margin in the season opener against the Golden Eagles, were able to get to halftime down by just eight points on Wednesday. But following a defensive third quarter in which the two teams combined for just 12 points, the Golden Eagles (11-2) poulled away with a 20-11 run.
Evan Wian led Bellefonte with nine points while Brandon Gripp sank 24 points for Tyrone.
“We just didn’t shoot the ball well from the outside, but the kids had great effort tonight,” Bellefonte coach Darin Hazel said. “Give credit to Tyrone and Gripp, he’s one of the best players in the league.”
