High school boys’ volleyball: Chambersburg edges State College

Chambersburg outlasted State College 3-1 in a close match on Tuesday.

The Trojans (3-3) took the first set 25-21 and the second 25-23 before State College (2-4) rebounded for a 25-12 win in the third. The Little Lions couldn’t carry their momentum into the fourth game and fell 25-16.

Deniz Demirci led State College with 14 kills while Andrew Groves and Tyler Snyder added 11 apiece. Parker Thompson added 25 digs while Noah Christie picked up 33 assits.

State College coach Kim-Li Kimel praised the play of a handful of her players — including Peter Atwill, Snyder and Thompson — despite the loss.

“Almost nearly perfect passing, but we didn’t contribute in other of areas and we just couldn’t swing the game in our favor,” Kimel said.
