Freshman Harley Hess showed some leadership on Monday for Penns Valley.
Hess gave up one run on four hits in the Lady Rams’ come-from-behind 2-1 victory over Clearfield. She struck out five and didn’t walk a batter.
“For a freshman, Hess pitched a good game,” Penns Valley coach Don Lucas said. “We were just able to poke two runs across in the sixth on their first baseman’s error. It’s a good win and we will take it.”
The Lady Bison’s Rachel Hoffman pitched a complete game, giving up just two hits.
Nikki Harbaugh and Ashley Struble collected the hits for the Lady Rams, who play a doubleheader on Wednesday against Huntingdon.
