Noah Gaus had just the right touch at just the right time for the Bellefonte boys’ soccer team Saturday morning.
Gaus’ free kick goal one minute into overtime broke the deadlock in a 1-0 Red Raider victory over Penns Valley.
Gaus drilled a direct kick from 25 yards away, from near the top of the penalty box in the center of the field, arcing his shot over the wall of Ram defenders and past keeper Jared Kines, who had made nine saves.
“We had another play we wanted him to make,” Bellefonte coach Scott Martz said. “He was smart enough, he saw one of their guys move up. For a sophomore he made the right move.”
Matt Feldman made six saves for the shutout for the Raiders (4-0).
