High school girls’ tennis: State College remains undefeated with win over Palmyra

The State College girls’ tennis team took two of three singles matches and both doubles contests to drop Palmyra 4-1 Friday afternoon.

Playing without three of their top seven players, the Lady Little Lions (8-0) still managed to stay undefeated on the season behind singles wins for Yvonne Peters-Washington and Lilijana Peters-Semak.

The doubles wins came from the teams of Callan Glover and Laura Guay, and Kendall Allen and Shannon Steele.

“I like the depth that we have on this team,” coach Jane Borden said. “All of the girls have worked hard and they are all earning opportunities to play at the varsity level.”

State College is back on the court at the Penn State Tennis Center on Saturday morning, hosting 2013 PIAA Class AA team champion Mercyhurst Prep.
