High school girls’ cross country: State College outruns Altoona

With the top three runners and five of the top seven, State College easily ran past Altoona 18-41 on Monday.

Natasha Fedkina paced the Lady Little Lions (4-3) with her time of 20 minutes, 33 seconds around the 5-kilometer course at Logan Elementary School, with teammate Larissa Burka running right along side and finishing second in 20:37.

Sarah Almarzooqi was third in 20:58, while Cailin Saylor was fifth (21:03) and Catherine Curtin took seventh (21:25) to complete the team’s scoring runs.

“The girls all worked well together the first half of the race, pulling each other up front,” coach Rebecca Donaghue said. “The top two did a great job leading. Natasha led the way and Larissa was right with her. We have a lot left for the Mid Penn meet.”

The Lady Little Lions will run in the Mid Penn Championships on Saturday.
