High school boys golf: State College one shot behind first-place Hollidaysburg in districts

State College sits one stroke behind Hollidaysburg (318) after the first day of the District 6 Class AAA Boys’ Golf Championship held Tuesday at Scotch Valley Country Club.

Christian Friberg is in third place individually after recording a 78 to lead the Little Lions (319). Ben Gelenberg (78), Ty Gates (80) and Kevin Zuercher (83) rounded out State College’s scoring.

Gelenberg’s score counted only toward the team as he did not qualify for the tournament individually. Zuercher was among three players tied with 83 to make the cut, leaving seven players in contention for the individual title to be decided Wednesday at Scotch Valley.

Isaac Wood of Hollidaysburg is in first place after shooting a 74.
