Five Penns Valley wrestlers went unbeaten on the day as the Rams posted a 3-2 record in the Juniata Duals on Saturday.
Penns Valley started out hot, winning three straight by similar scores. The Rams won 43-30 over Trinity, 43-31 over Newport and 43-32 over Selinsgrove. They then dropped two close matches, falling 37-34 against Huntingdon and 39-35 to Blairsville.
Darren Yearick had two pins and a major decision among his five wins at 106 pounds. Curtis Decker (126) had three pins, Jared Hurd (138) had two pins and a major decision and Isaac Bierly (145) had two pins as each went 5-0. Corey Hazel, wrestling at both 182 and 195 pounds, had two pins, a technical fall and two major decisions.
The Rams finished fourth in the event, which was won by Huntingdon
Philipsburg-Osceola placed ninth, going 1-4 on the afternoon.
The Mounties fell 42-21 to Saucon Valley, 33-30 against Juniata, 48-28 against Blairsville., and 31-31 on criteria to Susquehanna Township. They closed with a 39-30 triumph over Trinity.
Bryce Bennett (120) had four pins and went 4-1 on the day to pace the Mounties. Nick Patrick (160), who had a pin and two major decisions, and Micah Sidorick (220), who had a pair of major decisions, also went 4-1.
