High school boys basketball: Penns Valley knocks off Clearfield

Penns Valley’s boys’ basketball team gave up just 11 points in the first half and went on to beat Clearfield 61-49 in a Mountain League contest on Monday.

“Tonight’s win was a pretty big win,” Penns Valley coach Terry Glunt said. “They (Clearfield) were undefeated. We played a pretty solid first half. This keeps us tied atop the Mountain League standings with Clearfield and Tyrone.”

The Rams got a game-high 18 points from Logan Johnson, who was 6 for 10 from the field and 4 of 5 from the free-throw line.

Logan Pearce and Zach Engle each scored 13 points for Penns Valley (9-2, 5-1).

Tommy Hazel led the way for the Bison with 14 points.
