High school girls basketball: State College overmatched in loss to Cumberland Valley

State College couldn’t keep pace with Cumberland Valley in its 48-26 loss Tuesday.

The Lady Eagles (11-1) — ranked No. 1 in Class AAAA the Pennlive state rankings and the defending PIAA champions — limited the Lady Little Lions to single-digit scoring in each quarter. Katie Jekot scored 16 points to lead Cumberland Valley, which led by 14 at halftime.

“They’re No. 1 for a reason,” coach Bethany Irwin said. “They’re very balanced, very disciplined.”

Kyla Irwin led State College with 16 points.
