High school swimming: State College girls swim past Central Columbia

State College's Kate Cooper won the 200 individual medley and 100 freestyle events on Thursday to help lift the Lady Little Lions to a 134-51 win over Central Columbia. State College improved to 7-0 on the season.

Behind double winners Fiona Vashaw and Kate Cooper, the State College girls’ swimming and diving team raced away from Central Columbia 134-51 Thursday.

Vashaw earned her wins in back-to-back events, taking the 50-yard freestyle and the 100 butterfly. Cooper was first in the 200 individual medley and 100 freestyle as the Lady Little Lions (7-0) took first in every event.

Hannah Finton (200 free), Kelsey Bittel (500 free), Juliet Garrigan (100 backstroke) and Grace Tothero (100 breaststroke) also earned State College victories, with the team also sweeping all three relays.
