High school boys’ basketball: Glunt picks up milestone win in Penns Valley’s victory

Penns Valley coach Terry Glunt moved into a tie for first as the winningest coach for Penns Valley boys’ basketball after the Rams handled Mifflin Country 66-59 on Monday.

“We played hard against real talented individals,” said coach Glunt “We played tough defense, got after the boards and kept our poise.”

A quartet of rams scored in double digits in the victory: Logan Pearce (18 points), Sean Beamesderfer (17), Zach Engle (17) and Logan Johnson (13).

The outcome gave Glunt 171 winsfor his career, matching the win total for Dave Edwards, who also had a stretch coaching the girls’ program.

“I’m really proud of my time at Penns Valley and I have always looked up to Edwards,” Glunt said. “He’s like the grandfather of Penns Valley boys’ basketball and it’s an honor to be matched with him.”

Glunt will look to break the record on Wednesday when Penns Valley hosts rival Bald Eagle Area.
