High school girls’ basketball: Penns Valley cruises past Bald Eagle Area

A big second quarter gave Penns Valley the edge over Bald Eagle Area in a 48-39 victory Tuesday night.

“I’m really excited about how our girls came out and played. We just had that one letdown in the second quarter where we couldn’t score, and that ended up being the game difference,” said BEA coach Troy Butterworth, referring to being outscored 16-8 in the second quarter after only being down by one in the first.

Karli Ripka led Penns Valley with a game-high 15 points.

Hayley Giedroc led the Lady Eagles (3-12) with 11 points.

BEA will travel to Philipsburg-Osceola on Friday.
