High school wrestling: Bald Eagle Area starts slow, rebounds to rout Penns Valley

Bald Eagle Area got off to a shaky start but recovered nicely to hand Penns Valley a 43-13 wrestling defeat on Wednesday.

The Rams won the first three matches but the Eagles won the last 10 to seal the dual. There was no bout at 106 pounds.

Mitchell Taylor (195), Ben Bytheway (220) and Garrett Rigg (120) picked up falls for the Eagles. Seth Koleno (126) added a major decision for BEA and Chase Meyers (182), Clayton Giedroc (113), Cobey Bainey (132), Clint McCaslin (138) and Mike Kachik (145) finished the dual out with decisions for the Eagles.

Dylan Homan picked up a fall for the Rams at 152 pounds while Andrew Hurd added a major decision at 160. Allen Cain’s decision at 170 pounds opened up a 13-0 lead for the Rams but that would be the last win for Penns Valley. The Rams forfeited 285 to Josh Fye.
