High school girls basketball: State College falls short against Central Dauphin East

State College gave nationally-ranked Central Dauphin East a tussle for the first half, but fell short in the second half of a 51-33 loss.

The Lady Little Lions (12-6) trailed CD East 22-21 at halftime, but the Panthers pulled away with a 13-2 third quarter.

“The girls played a very strong first half,” State College coach Bethany Irwin said. “They played phenomenal. Perhaps we ran out of gas a little bit and they made some adjustments. We had too many turnovers.”

Kyla Irwin led State College with 20 points. Jayln Shelton-Burleight added eight. Brittany Robinson had 23 for the Panthers (19-1), who clinched at least a share of the Mid Penn Commonwealth title.
