High school boys’ basketball: St. Joseph’s earns first Mid State Athletic Conference Championship

Mike Jabco’s double-double and a 27 point fourth quarter propelled St. Joseph’s Catholic Academy to the first ever Mid State Athletic Conference championship on Saturday afternoon at Greenwood High School.

Jabco scored a game-high 31 points and grabbed 21 rebounds to lead the Wolves over Harrisburg Academy 77-58.

"We liked our match ups going into the game,” St. Joseph’s coach Richard Ciambotti said. “Our guys played extremely physical and rebounded with a passion. It is awesome to finish the conference season with a championship.”

Stephen Beattie (19) and Garrett Bastardi (17) also scored in double figures for the Wolves, which led by 10 at halftime.

Jalen Gabbidon led Harrisburg Academy with 30 points.

St. Joseph’s hits the hardwood again at 7 p.m. on Tuesday in the first round of the District 6 Class A playoffs against Glendale at Bishop Carroll High School.
