High school boys’ indoor track and field: St. Joseph’s Catholic Academy’s Hackman excels in Spire High School Showcase

St. Joseph’s Catholic Academy’s Brian Hackman competed against the nation’s best 800 meter runners on Saturday at the Spire High School Showcase.

Hackman showed he can run with the best of them.

He finished with a time of 1 minute, 57.8 seconds to finish 10th. First-place runner Elias Graca of Fox Chapel Area finished with a time of 1:53.13. Saline’s Logan Wetzel and Cameron Cooper rounded out the top three finishing second and third, respectively.

Hackman’s time ranks as seventh best in Pennsylvania and 62nd overall in the country. His time also broke a school record of 2:00.7 that he set last year.
