High school wrestling: Bellefonte has four top seeds for district meet

Four Bellefonte wrestlers have earned No. 1 seeds for the District 6 Class AAA Wrestling Tournament, which is slated for Saturday at the Altoona Fieldhouse.

The Red Raiders are expected to dominate the lighter weights. Aaron Witherite (120), Luke Leathers (126), Brock Port (132) and Trevor Corl (145) are the tops seeds in their weight classes. Port and Corl advanced to the PIAA Championships last year.

Bald Eagle Area heavyweight Josh Fye, a PIAA qualifier last year, is the only other Centre County wrestler to receiver a top seed. Seth Koleno (126) is a No. 2 seed for the Eagles, while Cobey Bainey (132) and Mitchell Bainey (195) are No. 3 seeds.

Dakota Weitoish (138), Nick Patrick (160), and Micah Sidorick (220) are No. 2 seeds for Philipsburg-Osceola.

Adam Stover (106) Anthony Myers (126), Dalton Barger (145), William Roeshot (170) and Jack Vandevort (285) are No. 3 seeds for State College.

Wrestling begins with the quarterfinals at 10:30 a.m. The semifinals are set for 12:30 p.m., with the finals slated at 6 p.m. The top three finishers advance to regional competition.
