For 28 Centre County wrestlers, dreams of Hershey continue in Altoona and Canonsburg on Friday and Saturday in the form of the Northwest Class AAA Regional Tournament and the Southwest Class AA Regional Tournament, respectively.
The brackets for each tournament were released Sunday afternoon. There is no seeding involved in this tournament. Instead, placers at various district tournaments are slotted into predetermined brackets, with exceptions drawn for various factors.
For the Southwest Class AA Regional, those brackets include teams from Districts 5 (top three placers), 6 (top four) and 7 (top seven) for 15 wrestlers in a 16-man bracket. District 7 earned seven first-round byes, District 6 received six and District 5 just one.
For the Northwest Class AAA Regional, those brackets include Districts 4 (top two), 6 (top four), 8 (top two), 9 (top three) and 10 (top four). District 4 earned five first-round byes, District 6 earned three and Districts 8, 9 and 10 earned two each.

Here’s a look at the matchups those brackets revealed.
Four of the five Penns Valley wrestlers will have a first-round match.
At 106, sophomore Darren Yearick is paired with Southmoreland freshman Tyler Griffiths, the third-place finisher in District 7 with a 34-6 record.
At 126, junior Curtis Decker will meet junior Aaron Harris of McGuffey. He has a 30-13 record and was the sixth-place finisher in District 7.
At 132, sophomore Jared Hurd will tangle with Freedom sophomore Kody Komara, the third-place finisher from District 7 who has a 30-13 record.
At 152, senior Andrew Hurd will take on Dillon Richey, a junior from McGuffey with a 27-17 record who placed fifth in District 7.
At 182, Corey Hazel received a first-round bye. He will meet the winner of the following matchup: Chestnut Ridge’s Brandyn Beaver (17-12) and Bethlehem-Center’s Nico Brown (31-8).
In the Class AAA regional, 22 of 23 wrestlers will face a first-round matchup. Here are those matchups, weight by weight.
At 106, State College sophomore Adam Stover meets District 10 champion Brady Sittinger of Cathedral Prep, a sophomore with a 24-3 record. Bellefonte junior Shafiq Blake will take on District 8 champion Jamil Prude of Allderdice, a freshman with a 20-8 record.
At 113, Philipsburg-Osceola freshman Matt Johnson is paired with junior Carmine Ciotti of General McLane, the District 10 champion with a 30-4 record.
At 120, Bellefonte junior Aaron Witherite sees freshman Tyler Thompson of Bradford, who is 15-4. Garrett Rigg, a freshman from Bald Eagle Area, faces junior Josiah McClarren of Clearfield, the District 9 champion with a 21-11 record.
At 126, State College junior Anthony Myers gets the District 9 runner-up, sophomore Cameron Resch from St. Marys who has a 19-14 record. Bellefonte senior Luke Leathers will see junior Dequay Johnson of Perry who has a 13-12 record and was the District 8 runner-up. BEA’s Seth Koleno, a freshman and District 6 champions, meets District 10 fourth-place finisher James Johnson of Titusville, a sophomore with a 15-10 record.
At 132, Bellefonte sophomore Brock Port, who won his second District 6 title on Saturday, receives a first-round bye and will await the winner of the following bout: Cathedral Prep’s TaNauz Gregory (23-6) and Allderdice’s Shaan Cheema (4-21). Levi Hughes, a sophomore from Philipsburg-Osceola, takes on Punxsutawney junior Elijah Lambiotte, the District 9 runner-up with a 22-8 record.
At 138, Bellefonte sophomore Chase Gardner takes on sophomore Jarrett Jones of Williamsport, the District 4 runner-up with a 9-10 record. Dakota Weitosh of Philipsburg-Osceola, a junior, gets freshman Justice Jones of Carric, the District 8 runner-up with a 12-13 record.
At 145, Bellefonte senior Trevor Corl is paired with Shikellamy sophomore Jordan Hepler, the District 4 runner-up with a 19-15 record. State College junior Dalton Barger meets sophomore Owen Watkins of General McLane, the District 10 champion who has a 33-5 record.
At 152, senior Nate Rosenberger of Bellefonte tangles with District 4 champion Hadyn Swartwood of Jersey Shore, a junior with a 31-5 record.
At 160, Philipsburg-Osceola junior Nick Patrick draws sophomore Logan Huling of Jersey Shore, the District 4 runner-up who sports a 6-20 record.
At 170, State College junior William Roeshot will battle District 10 fourth-place finisher Tristan Nadonly, a senior with a 12-12 record from Titusville.
At 182, Bellefonte junior Dillon Kepart will meet Warren junior Derek Reagle, the District 10 runner-up who has a 20-12 record.
At 195, State College junior Cory Dreibelbis will take on Dan Stearns of Titusville, a senior with a 19-8 record and the District 10 runner-up. Bald Eagle senior Mitchell Taylor gets District 9 champion Travis Ogden of Clearfield, a junior with a 26-3 record.
At 220, State College sophomore Pete Haffner will see Obama Academy senior Greg Stewart, the District 8 runner-up with a 1-3 record.
At 285, Bald Eagle Area junior and District 6 champion Josh Fye meets District 10 third-place finisher Chris Larsen, a senior with a 13-7 record from McDowell. Jack Vandevort, a junior from State College, draws junior Nate Lash, the District 9 champion with a 17-12 record from Clearfield.
