High school boys’ tennis: State College dominates Cedar Cliff in shut out victory

Despite missing much of its normal starting lineup, the State College boys’ tennis team still prevailed 5-0 over Cedar Cliff on Monday in Mid Penn Conference play.

Dan Shull, Sam Wherley and Fernando del Castillo all won their singles matches 6-0, 6-0 as the Little Lions (3-0), who lost a total of four games in the match, played without five of their top 10 players for various reasons.

“It was really nice to see some of the other guys step into varsity positions today and have success,” coach Jane Borden said. “They did a nice job today.”

Earning straight-set doubles wins were Sebastian Forest and Matt Bristol, and Lucas Forest and Aleef Mannan.
