High school boys tennis: State College sweeps Central Dauphin

The State College boys’ tennis team rolled to a 5-0 win over Central Dauphin on Friday.

Matt Wherley, Dan Shull and Nick Vanden each won their singles matches in straight sets for the Little Lions. State College’s Sam Wherley and Fernando del Castillo beat Zach Fogelsanger and Michael Henning 6-2, 6-1 at No. 1 doubles, and Little Lion duo Lucas Forest and Matt Bristol earned a 7-6, 6-1 win at No. 2 doubles.

“CD is a very solid team and one of the better teams in the Mid Penn,” State College coach Jane Borden said, “so the guys should be proud of the way they competed today.”

State College (4-0) hosts Hershey on Monday.
