Penns Valley’s Naomi Olsen-Zelman won the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 17.79 seconds to highlight Centre County finishes at the Igloo Invitational on Saturday.
St. Joseph’s Catholic Academy turned in a strong performance, with five runner-up finishes. Brian Hackman led the boys, taking second in the 1600 (4:33.05) and second in the 3200 (10:19.71). Teammate Eli Urban finished third in the 3200 (10:23.17).
Jordan Wiser paced the St. Joseph’s girls, finishing second in the 800 (2:38.13) and second in the 1600 (5:44.52). Cecilia Surovec took second in the 100 hurdles (18.08) and third in the 300 hurdles (54.53), and Grace Cousins was fourth in the 3200 (12:45.36).
“The team really responded well on Saturday,” St. Joseph’s coach Jayson Jackson said. “We had several season and personal bests on the day. They did a great job of attacking and battling their competition while being unfazed by the elements.”
