High school softball: Bald Eagle Area opens season with win over Central Martinsburg

In its first game of the season, the Bald Eagle Area softball team rolled to a 12-7 victory over Central on Monday.

“Sydney Schultz pitched a very strong game,” Lady Eagles coach Curt Heverly said of his pitcher, who struck out six while allowing seven runs and seven hits in 61/3 innings of work.

The game featured plenty of extra-base hits for BEA. Schultz, Hayley Giedroc (3 RBIs), Morgan Peters, Mikala Smith and Morgan Nyman each tallied doubles.

“Seven out of 13 hits came from our last three batters, especially Nyman and Smith,” Heverly said of the duo who combined to bat 6 for 8 with Nyman driving in two runs.

The Lady Eagles will travel to Penns Valley on Wednesday.
