In its first completed dual meets of the season, the Penns Valley girls’ track and field team walked away win two wins on Wednesday, 98.5-47.5 over Clearfield and 109-41 over Bellefonte. The Lady Red Raiders topped the Lady Bison 83-66.
“Despite the cold weather we had many outstanding preformances by our athletes” Penns Valley coach Lynda Federinko said. “Clearfield and Bellefonte are two of our toughest opponents and the girls rose to the occasion, giving it their best effot.”
Destiny Andrus led the Lady Rams in the sprints by winning the 100-meter dash (12.9 seconds), 200 (27.9) and 400 (1:04.5). Andrus was also part of the winning 400 relay team. Kylie Orndorf led in the throwing events by taking first in the javelin (100 feet, 3 inches) and discus (95-5), and taking second in the shot put (30-4). Naomi Olsen-Zelman finished the meet with firsts in the 100 hurdles (17.2) and pole vault (6-6), and was second in the 300 hurdles (53.0).
Other Penns Valley winners included Kelsey Sweitzer (long jump, 13-10 3/4), Maci Ilgen (triple jump, 30-5) and Valerie Kubalak (high jump, 5-0)

Anya Hoaglund was the lone Bellefonte winner as she captured the 1,600 and 3,200 races in 5:50 and 12:40.8, respectively.
“Putting two tallies in the win column is always a good way to start the season” Federinko said.
