High school girls’ track and field: State College places second in Jack Roddick Invitational

State College brought home a second-place finish at the Jack Roddick Invitational at Shippensburg University on Saturday.

The Lady Little Lions finished with 66 points, 22 behind winner Susquehanna Township. Cumberland Valley (third), Carlisle (fourth) and Cedar Cliff rounded out the top five.

Leading the way for State College was Veronika Karpenko, who won the long jump and triple jump. Karpenko’s leap of 18 feet-111/2 inches set a school record for the long jump.

Megan Fry also set a Lady Little Lions’ record with a 11-9 vault in the pole vault which was good for third. Natasha Fedkina picked up a second-place finish in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:18.09.

Rachel Wylie finished third in the 100 hurdles (15.44 seconds), and the 4x800 relay team also finished third.
