High school baseball: State College splits with Cedar Cliff

State College split a pair of one-run games with Cedar Cliff on Tuesday.

The Little Lions fell 2-1 in 13 innings in the completion of a game that started on March 26 before beating the Colts 4-3 in the second game.

The first game resumed with the teams tied 1-1 with two outs in the bottom of the sixth. Cedar Cliff clinched the win when Noah Malone scored on an error in the bottom of the 13th. Malone led off with a walk, stole second and third base before scoring on an error on John McGee’s fly ball to center field.

Caleb Walls came through with a double to help State College earn a walk-off win in the bottom of the seventh. Chris Boal led off the seventh with a single, and Ben Shawley followed with a single.

Walls came to the plate with two outs and doubled to right field to score Boal. Shawley scored on the throw to lift the Little Lions to victory.

State College’s Oliver Dailey limited Cedar Cliff to one run on two hits in four innings of relief to earn the win.

The Little Lions are at Central Dauphin on Thursday.
