High school softball: State College picks up wins over Shikellamy and East Juniata in East Juniata Tournament

State College pounded out a combined 26 hits en route to a 6-2 win over Shikellamy and a 10-1 win over East Juniata at the East Juniata Tournament on Saturday.

The Lady Little Lions broke a scoreless tie with five runs in the top of the sixth against Shikellamy. Kayla Hawbaker finished with a double and a triple, Hannah Shields had a double and two RBIs and Alyssa Shedlock drove in two runs for State College.

Shields struck out seven and limited Shikellamy to three hits in a complete game to get the win.

State College stayed hot against East Juniata, scoring 10 runs on 17 hits.

Abby Allen paced the Lady Little Lions with three hits, including a triple, and three RBIs. Shedlock also tripled and had two RBIs, and Jess Henderson had a two-run double. Shedlock, Henderson, Hawbaker and Jennie Ewton each had two hits.

Karli Nolan pitched a complete game to earn the win.

State College returns to action at Chambersburg on Wednesday.
