State College boys’ relay team takes second at Penn Relays

The State College boys’ 4x400-meter relay team finished second in a 12-team field Saturday at the Penn Relays.

The Little Lion team of Max Herbst, Noah Woods, Alex Milligan and Josh Rickley recorded a time of 3 minutes, 23.30 seconds, just behind first-place Egg Harbor Township’s (N.J.) time of 3:23.20.

In the long jump, State College’s Kellin Valentine placed 12th out of 18 with a mark of 21-4.25. Jullanie Walker of Calabar (Jamaica) won the event (24-5.5).


Michael Shuey took second in the men’s javelin throw championship to highlight Penn State’s effort Saturday.

Shuey recorded a throw of 241-9, good for second behind Middle Tennessee’s John Ampomah (267-6). Steve Waithe took eighth in the men’s triple jump championship (50-6.75).

Ryan Kerr placed fourth (227-0) in the men’s javelin college division.

In the 4x400 women’s college division, Penn State’s team of Megan Osborne, Dynasty McGee, Tichina Rhodes and Deja Davis finished third (3:37.59).
