Philipsburg-Osceola’s Derek Shaw delivered an RBI single in the eighth inning on Saturday to lift the Mounties to a 6-5 win in Game 2 as P-O swept a doubleheader from Penns Valley.
P-O held a 4-1 lead over the Rams through six innings in the second game before Penns Valley exploded for four runs in the top of the seventh — thanks to L.J. Johnson’s two-run double and a sacrifice squeeze from Chase Collison — to take a 5-4 advantage. P-O tied the game in the bottom of the frame before Shaw drove in the winning run.
The Mounties took Game 1 13-7, as Isaac Knepp picked up the win on the mound and helped his own cause at the plate with three hits. Tanner Lamb also had three hits in the game for the Mounties, while Wyatt Sharp and Collison led the Rams’ offense with two hits apiece.
