High school boys’ tennis: State College dominates Hollidaysburg in District 6 team tournament

State College dominated Hollidaysburg 4-1 in the semifinals of the District 6 Class AAA team tournament on Tuesday.

“This was a tough match and hopefully an eye opener for some of our guys,” Little Lion coach Jane Borden said. “(District) 6 tennis is quite a bit different from Mid Penn play and we had to change gears rather quickly.”

State College winners were Matt Wherley and Nick Vanden in singles, and the teams of Sam Wherley and Fernando del Castillo, and Matt Bristol and Lucas Forest in doubles.

State College (14-1) will compete in the championship match against Altoona on Thursday at State College.
