High school boys’ track & field: State College’s Thompson wins pole vault at Mid Penn meet

Griffin Thompson won the pole vault, in a 1-2 finish in the event for State College, at the Mid Penn Conference Championship Meet at Chambersburg High School on Saturday.

Thompson cleared 14 feet, 6 inches to capture the victory. A foot behind in the runner-up spot was Lucas Gray. Teammate Matt Suchanec added a seventh-place finish.

The Little Lions also had a strong performance in the 800-meter run, with Alex Milligan taking second in 1 minute, 57.34 seconds, while Nick Feffer was third in 1:58.46. Two State College relay teams also placed third, with Anthony Degleris, Bryan Quinn, Joey Feffer and Eric Heatwole in 8:06.36 in the 3,200 relay , and Josh Rickley, Nick Feffer, Milligan and Max Herbst in 3:26.66 in the 1,600 relay.

Also, Noah Woods was sixth in the 200, the 400 relay team was seventh, Andrew Miller was eighth in the discus and Matt Beyerle was eighth in the 1,600.

State College tied for fourth as a team with 52 points. Carlisle won with 93 points out of 25 scoring teams.
