Danae Hurd’s second-half goal proved to be the difference in the Penns Valley girls’ soccer team’s 2-1 win over Bald Eagle Area on Thursday.

Sydney Riegel assisted on Hurd’s game-winner at the 63:48 mark. Riegel scored the Lady Rams’ first goal, finding the back of the net on an assist by Destiny Andrus in the second minute.

Sarah Van Cise scored Bald Eagle Area’s lone goal.

Penns Valley outshot the Lady Eagles 24-5.

“We took a lot of shots in this game but just couldn’t convert them,” Penns Valley coach Jeff Smucker said. “The girls stayed patient and eventually got what they needed to notch the win.”

Penns Valley goalie Rachel Wert had three saves, and Bald Eagle Area’s Charlee Harris made five saves.
