High School boys’ soccer: Handel’s first varsity goal sends Philipsburg-Osceola over Bald Eagle Area in overtime

Philipsburg-Osceola’s Ben Handel made the most of his first varsity goal, as he scored the game-winner in overtime against Bald Eagle Area in a 3-2 win on Monday.

“Ben’s shot was magical for him,” Mounties coach Shawn Inlow said. “For him to break his duck in such an important league win for us was special. I can tell you Ben is elated and might not come back down for a few days.”

P-O was up 2-0 at the half, before the Eagles staged a comeback with five minutes left in the game. Jared Gettig and Chris Dunkelberger both scored, with Dunkelberger scoring the tying goal.

The Mounties found the net after throw-ins from junior defender Christian Snyder. Eric Tew and Austin Krise both netted first-half goals.

Philipsburg-Osceola (6-3-2) will travel to Penns Valley on Wednesday.
