High school boys golf: Philipsburg-Osceola, St. Joseph’s individuals qualify for districts

A pair of golfers from both Philipsburg-Osceola and St. Joseph’s Catholic Academy will advance to the District 6 Championships after their performances at Tuesday’s sectionals.

Carter Fischer and Payton Guelich will represent P-O after posting scores of 75 and 86, respectively. Fischer’s score tied him for second with Luke Terchek of Bishop McCort.

Matt Stayers and Jake Mangene will represent St. Joseph’s after posting scores of 85 and 87, respectively.

Although the four will advance, both schools were knocked out of contention, as only the top four teams advanced. Richland led the way with a team score of 323, followed by Central Cambria at 325, Westmont at 332 and Ligonier Valley at 346.

Jeremy Eckenrode of Central Cambria topped all golfers with a score of 73.
