It was another tough week for Centre County’s high school football teams.

Bald Eagle Area, Bellefonte, Penns Valley and Philipsburg-Osceola all suffered lopsided losses. St. Joseph’s Catholic Academy fell by six points. State College earned the lone win, beating Chambersburg 38-10.

State College hosts unbeaten Central Dauphin this Friday.

Here’s a look at the rest of the matchups this week.

Clearfield (4-1)

at Bellefonte (1-4)

Time: 7 p.m.

Coaches: C — Tim Janocko (31st season); Bel — Shanon Manning (third season)

Last meeting: Clearfield 41, Bellefonte 6, last season

Players to watch: C — Seth Caldwell, RB; Bel — Austin Jackson, RB

The skinny: Bellefonte is coming off a 42-0 loss to Tyrone.

The Golden Eagles rushed for 209 yards on 32 carries en route to the win. The Red Raiders will now be tasked with slowing down Seth Caldwell and Clearfield’s rushing attack.

Caldwell has rushed for more than 100 yards in each of the last four games, powering Clearfield’s four-game winning streak. He ran for a season-high 194 yards and three touchdowns against Huntingdon two weeks ago and went for 123 yards on 29 carries in a 28-7 win over Brockway last week.

The Bison have outscored their opponents 139-56 during their winning streak.

Bellefonte’s Austin Jackson rushed for 75 yards on 13 carries against Tyrone.

Philipsburg-Osceola (0-5)

at Penns Valley (1-4)

Time: 7 p.m.

Coaches: P-O — Mike Soyster (second season); PV — Martin Tobias (20th season)

Last meeting: Penns Valley 49, Philipsburg-Osceola 21, last season

Players to watch: P-O — Ty Laird, RB; PV — Chase Collison, RB

The skinny: Penns Valley couldn’t contain Huntingdon’s running game in a 42-7 loss last week. Philipsburg-Osceola had no answer for Chestnut Ridge’s passing attack in a 51-7 loss.

They’ll meet this week.

The Rams have lost two straight. They got off to a strong start against Huntingdon, taking a 7-0 lead after the first quarter, but the offense struggled from there. Chase Collison finished with 115 total yards in the loss, including 89 on the ground.

Ty Laird accounted for the lone touchdown last week for Philipsburg-Osceola, which has lost 22 straight.

Bald Eagle Area (1-4)

at Tyrone (4-1)

Coaches: BEA — Ron Hoover (second season); T — Jason Wilson (second season)

Last meeting: Tyrone 42, Bald Eagle Area 6, last season

Players to watch: BEA — Tanner Kresovich, QB; T — Drew Hunter, QB

The skinny: Bald Eagle Area was shut out again last week.

The Eagles fell 42-0 to Central after losing 26-0 to Chestnut Ridge the previous week.

Now, they face a high-scoring Tyrone team that cruised past Bellefonte a week ago. The Golden Eagles have scored more than 40 points in each of their four wins.

They are led by quarterback Drew Hunter, who has thrown 12 touchdowns and no interceptions and completed 64 percent of his passes. Running back Gary Weaver has rushed for 489 yards and nine touchdowns, and wide receiver Parker Mitchell has hauled in a team-high 17 passes, including seven touchdowns.

St. Joseph’s Catholic Academy (0-5) at Carson Long Military Academy (0-3)

Time: 4 p.m. Saturday

Coaches: SJCA — Dave Carson (third season); CL — Timothy Smallwood

Players to watch: SJCA — Mikey Kresovich, QB

The skinny: St. Joseph’s Catholic Academy couldn’t hold off Upper Dauphin in a 14-8 loss last week.

Adam Watkeys scored the Wolves’ lone touchdown, returning a punt 23 yards. But it wasn’t enough for the team’s first win of the season.

St. Joseph’s will look to get into the win column against a Carson Long team that’s had a short week.

Carson Long lost 53-0 to Bucktail on Monday.
