Bellefonte rode two first-half goals to victory in a 3-2 boys’ soccer win over Bald Eagle Area on Thursday night at Alumni Stadium.
The Red Raiders struck quickly. Noah Gaus started off his big game with a goal in the fourth minute, followed by a Dion Furfaro score in the seventh minute. Furfaro’s goal was assisted by Gaus.
Bellefonte’s 2-0 halftime lead was cut in half in the 63rd minute when Jared Gettig scored his first of two on the evening. He would later notch a goal in the 79th minute for BEA (5-10-2).
However, Alex Horner’s goal, assisted by Gaus, in the 78th minute would provide enough of a cushion for the Red Raiders (11-6) to escape.

“It was a typical Bellefonte-Bald Eagle game — back and forth,” said Bellefonte coach Scott Martz, whose team wrapped up its regular season schedule and prepares for the District 6 tournament which begins next week. “We came out aggressive early and scored two goals, but the second half BEA was much more aggressive. It was a fun and exciting high school soccer game.”
BEA did outshoot Bellefonte, 12-9, but Red Raider goalkeepers Josh Gaus and Noah Nadolsky combined for seven saves.
