High school football: Line Mountain pulls away after half from St. Joseph’s

St. Joseph’s Catholic Academy were strong for a half, but could not hang on in a 47-18 loss to Line Mountain on Friday night at Bishop Guilfoyle High School.

Charlie Ross caught two touchdown passes and ran for another to highlight the scoring for the Wolves (1-7). Ross finished with nine catches for 116 yards, while adding three carries for four yards.

Mikey Kresovich was 17 for 33 passing for 150 yards and the two scores, and also tossing one interception.

The first-half scoring connections went for 36 and 21 yards.

After the tight first half, the Eagles returned the opening kick of the second half 85 yards for a score, and never looked back.

"Our team came out with fire and desire tonight,” Wolves coach Dave Carson said. “Unfortunately, playing with only 15 kids catches up to you and we couldn't sustain our energy for the full 48 minutes. Tonight was a learning experience for our young guys — you need to bring the same approach for the entire 48 minutes to win at this level.”

Brendan Robinson added 7 for 11 passing for another 90 yards in the air.

The Wolves finish their season next Friday night, visiting Marion Center.
