Penns Valley wins 3 at Anthracite Duals

Penns Valley posted a 3-2 record Saturday in the Anthracite Duals wrestling tournament at Panther Valley High School.

The Rams earned wins over Williams Valley 39-34, Palmerston 40-24 and Halifax 52-25. They suffered their losses against Wilson Area 37-31 and Lehighton 50-25.

Leading the way for Penns Valley (4-3) were Isaac Bierly, Curtis Decker and Jared Hurd, who posted 5-0 records on the day at 138, 145 and 152 pounds, respectively.

Adding 4-1 records were Darren Yearick (113), Allen Cain (182) and Corey Rimmey (195).

“We rebounded from a rough first loss and wrestled pretty solid the remainder of the day,” Rams coach Joel Brinker said. “We were looking to improve on what we did today.”
