High school basketball all-star game set

Local basketball standouts will play in the second annual Senior All-Star Madness Game on Friday at West Branch High School.

The girls’ game will start at 6 p.m., followed by the boys’ game at 8 p.m. There will also be 3-point shooting contests and a boys’ dunk contest.

In the girls’ game, Philipsburg-Osceola’s Haylee Hayward is on Team Purple coached by Glendale’s John Matchock. Lady Mounties teammates Cheyanne Cowfer and Cheyenne Bone are on Team Pink coached by Mary Jo Kitko of Moshannon Valley.

In the boys’ game, Penns Valley’s Zach Engle and Logan Pearce and Bald Eagle Area’s Trey Butterworth are part of the Team Navy roster. They will face Team Silver, which includes Bald Eagle Area’s Noah Chambers, Penns Valley’s Ben Alexander and St. Joseph’s Catholic Academy’s Stephen Beattie.

Mount Union’s Joe Komir will coach Team Navy, and Clearfield’s Nate Glunt will coach Team Silver.

It is $3 for adults and $1 for students to attend the game.
