State College baseball fends off Chambersburg

A five-run third inning propelled State College past Chambersburg 6-3 on Tuesday.

The explosive fifth frame gave the Little Lions a lead it wouldn’t surrender, especially with Mason Mellott dealing on the hill. Mellott struck out six in six innings of work, earning the win.

Austin Suders was the losing pitcher for Chambersburg.

Chambersburg outhit State College 9-6, but two RBIs from Evan Moerschbacher and runs knocked in by Greg Copenhaver, Zach Ripka, Kenny Magnes and Tucker Triebold were enough.

State College (7-6) faces Carlisle on Thursday.
