Penns Valley softball falls in five innings

In a five-inning, mercy-rule throttling, Penns Valley fell to Central 12-0 on Tuesday.

Central scored all 12 runs in the first two innings — five in the opening frame, and seven in the second. Olivia Smith, Jenna Ritchey and Ashley Negley all had multi-hit games for Central.

In the circle, Penns Valley’s Emma Kubalak was the losing pitcher, while Dylan Claycomb earned the win. She had nine strikeouts, and the Lady Rams had only one hit off her, a single by Mikenna Lyons.

Penns Valley faces Huntingdon on Friday.
