After trading the first four sets, it came down to an overtime set to separate State College boys’ volleyball and Central Dauphin.
Unfortunately for the Little Lions, it went to the Rams.
Central Dauphin (7-3) edged State College (4-6) on Tuesday night 3-2 (20-25, 26-24, 19-25, 25-21, 15-17).
“Both teams played pretty hard, and it was tight all they way through,” State College coach Kim-Li Kimel said. “It could have gone either way.”
For State College, Gabe Avillion had 26 kills, Noah Christie recorded 32 digs, and Brandon Kuruzovich doled out 23 assists. Walker Stone contributed in several ways, tallying 17 assists, 13 digs, eight kills and one block.
Kimel said her side lost focus in the first two lost sets, but battled back in the fourth to force a fifth.
“They closed the set,” Kimel said. “That was nice.”
But the Little Lions couldn’t come out victorious in the fifth.
State College will need to rebound quickly, as it hosts Bishop Guilfoyle on Wednesday night.
