The State College Spikes have hired Matt Hoover as assistant general manager of marketing, the team announced Monday.
Hoover will lead the Spikes’ marketing efforts and community relations programs, and he’ll aim to improve the in-game entertainment for fans at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park.
Hoover worked as the assistant general manager of marketing and promotions for the Altoona Curve from 2011-14. The Hollidaysburg native worked for the Spikes during their inaugural 2006 season as the assistant director of marketing and promotions.
From 2006-08, Hoover was the director of marketing and promotions for the Spikes and Curve, which were both owned by Chuck Greenberg at the time. Greenberg remains the Spikes’ owner.
The defending New York-Penn League champion Spikes open the 2015 season, their 10th in the league, on June 19 at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park against the Williamsport Crosscutters.
