BATAVIA, N.Y. The State College Spikes’ second game in a three-game road series against the Batavia Muckdogs was postponed due to wet grounds following a 31-minute rain delay, the team announced Tuesday.
After a 9-1 win over the Muckdogs on Monday night, the Spikes (21-21) were slated to start pitcher Dailyn Martinez (2-3, 4.25 ERA) against Brett Lilek (0-2, 6.11) on Tuesday. The game will instead be played on Wednesday at 5:05 p.m. and will be immediately followed by another to complete the series on schedule. State College’s Juan Perez (4-1) will start the second game, while left-hander Scott Squier (2-0) will start for the Muckdogs.
Center fielder Jhohan Acevedo will lead off for the Spikes in Tuesday’s first game, followed by left fielder Mike Pritchard, shortstop Leobaldo Pina, first baseman Casey Grayson, third baseman Cole Lankford, catcher Jesse Jenner, second baseman Josh Swirchak and Martinez. Orlando Olivera and R.J. Dennard will be designated hitters.
The Spikes have won four straight road games, while the Muckdogs (15-26) had a two-game win streak snapped by State College on Monday night.
