Col. Russell laid to rest at Arlington National Cemetery

Col. Gerald F. Russell a decorated Marine, served for 28 years and then taught for many years at Penn State, was a respected member of the State College community and was noted for his volunteer work with Toys for Tots, Special Olympics and Centre County United Way. He died Feb. 24 at the age of 97. “The Colonel,” as he was known, was laid to rest with military honors provided by the Marine Band and Honor Guard.
