2 people injured in crash that closed part of East College Avenue, police say

Two people were injured Wednesday in a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of East College Avenue and the U.S. Route 322 bypass, State College police wrote in a press release.

Officers responded about 1:40 p.m. Wednesday and found two vehicles severely damaged. The cause of the crash is being investigated, but officers believe the crash was because of a medical emergency, police wrote.

One driver was transported by Centre LifeLink EMS to Mount Nittany Medical Center for treatment of severe injuries, while the other driver was treated for minor injuries, police wrote.

A portion of East College Avenue was closed until about 3:15 p.m. while a crash reconstruction investigation was underway. Alpha Fire Company also assisted.
